Continuing the international theme, one of the newest exhibitions debuting at the Pinacothque de Paris this autumn is the L'Or des Incas, presenting ancient art from the fascinating Inca civilisation that dominated parts of South America prior to colonisation. The exhibition will display 253 distinct works on loan from Peru's museums, providing an overview of many aspects of the mysterious people until 6 February 2011.
Art isn't just something to be observed in a gallery though, as demonstrated by the innovative Carr des Ateliers workshop fair that takes place in Paris' Boulevard Richard-Lenoir each month, adjacent to Breguet Sabin metro station. Involving the talents of around 50 artists, the workshop is a chance for amateur and established artists alike to put their talents to practical use crafting artistic objects, from furniture to decorations, jewellery and clothes, using both time-honoured and contemporary practices.
Galleries are not the only places you can experience artworks on holidays in Paris, however - the city also brings art into the streets and into its public parks, and you can see many magnificent sculptures and outdoor exhibitions in areas such as the Champs-Elyses, the Champ de Mars or along the banks of the Seine. Paris is an incredibly photogenic city, and many of its buildings and other architectural triumphs are works of art themselves.
