In addition to providing clean drinking water and basic sanitation, an essential part of WaterCan's leading Charity programs is hygiene education for members of African communities. Easy access to clean, safe water facilitates good hygiene practices, which are promoted throughout the community by student health clubs and women's groups. WaterCan's African partner organizations works hard to provide the necessary information about basic hygiene to community members to help them prevent skin conditions and health problems associated with poor hygiene and consumption of tainted water. Hygiene education is provided to all members of the community, young and old.
Community involvement is another major part of WaterCan's work; it is essential to ensure the success and sustainability of all the efforts made towards water access, sanitation and hygiene education.
