International Wildlife Museum in Arizona - A Great Vacation and Travel Destination by:Robert W. Benjamin

The next time you are in Arizona consider checking out the International Wildlife Museum. The museum is dedicated to imparting knowledge of wildlife conservation, management, and increasing the general public's knowledge of wildlife. The museum has been in existence more than two decades and it highlights hundreds of species from birds to insects as well as mammals that are from around the world. There are some collections on display that are more than 100 years old and the various animals at the museum have all be donated by one government agency or another, zoos, individuals, and captive breeding programs.

There are many dioramas at the International Wildlife Museum that show wild animals in their native habitats as well as hands on exhibits, videos, and computers that provide interactive viewing of animals. All of the exhibits seem to promotion the conservation and appreciation of wildlife. When you take the time to visit the International Wildlife Museum you will leave with a better understanding of animals' habitats, adaptive characteristics, and issues pertaining to wildlife conservation.

The International Wildlife Museum is a charitable organization and part of the Safari Club International foundation. It is located at 4800 W. Gates Pass Rd., Tucson, Arizona. Their phone number is (520) 629-0100. The museum is open Monday through Friday from 9 am through 5 pm and from 9-6pm on Saturday and Sunday. The museum is not open on holidays Thanksgiving and Christmas. The gift shop is open from 10am through 4 pm for those who want some souvenirs to remember their trip by.

Admission is $7 for adults, $5.50 for seniors 62 and over and students/military with ID, $2.50 for children 4-12, and kids 3 and under are free. Groups of 10 or more individuals can get discounted admission and may even add a guided tour for an extra 50 cents per person.
