subject: Blue Cross And Blue Shield - Making Insurance Easier To Find [print this page]

It has been said that the average American will change jobs at least five times in their lifetime. There was a time when a person worked for one company for their entire lives and would only change jobs if they got fired or were recruited to another better opportunity, and then they would work until they were given a golden watch and a nice pension. The concept of the layoff then become popular, and now companies could dispatch whole divisions of people at a time for no real cause at all.

Being laid off is always unpleasant, the only real recourse being the ability to receive unemployment payments after a layoff, and explaining the reason for unemployment at an interview is much easier than trying to justify being fired for cause. Insurance often becomes an issue, with the policy from the former employer generally ending within thirty days of termination, and the new insurance not beginning until ninety days have passed with a new employer. For many, finding an option for insurance independent of the workplace, especially Blue Cross and Blue Shield, is the right way to go.

Because of the change of the flow of employment in America, more insurance companies are liberalizing their policies in anticipation of health care reform, and while your benefits may not be as good as they might have been in the past, at least something is being done to improve and regulate the industry. Independent insurance quotes are becoming more and more popular, as are other means of providing medical and health coverage for individuals, families, and loved ones.

Even preexisting conditions are being redefined. For instance, pregnancy was once considered a preexisting condition and coverage could be denied to a new employee expecting a child. It took an act of Congress to regulate the industry and force insurance companies to drop pregnancy as a preexisting condition, and that was one of the factors that gave the industry an indication of things to come should they not choose to create better coverage options for employees.

So regardless of the volatile job market or the changing economic future, insurance continues to find ways to be made available to the common man. Seeking an independent Blue Cross or Blue Shield quote might be what it takes to overcome the current lapses in policies and prepare for a better future as the implementation of future legislation moves on.
