subject: How Your Parents Can Help You Select Skin Care Products [print this page]

Each year it seems as if more anti-aging skin care products are flooding into the market. Each of them promises to return your skin to the youthful state that it had in years past. Mostly this attests to how much we value youth in our society. And just like other so called youth restoring products and services such as hair restoration services, botox treatments, lip enhancers, breast enhancements, and so on - the trend seems to be escalating even more.

But are any of these skin products any good? It's hard to say because not everyone needs the same types of treatments for their skin. For instance, a person with oily skin, obviously has different needs than a person with dry skin. And a product that has received raves for its effect on people with dry skin may be a complete dud when it comes to treating oily skin. This is all to say that whether a particular skin care regimen or product is good for you is a totally individual decision.

There is really no better way of finding out which products are best for your skin than to simply experiment with different products. A good starting point is to look at the members of your family - especially your parents, grand parents and so on. And, especially, if they seem to do a good job of caring for their skin.

This is a great shortcut in figuring out what kinds of products might be good for you as well. For instance, if your parents have had great luck with glycerin based products and they have flawless skin, even if you don't use the exact same products that they use, your first choice might be to look at glycerin based products for yourself as well.

So what should the ideal anti-aging skin care product do? It should even out your skin tone and make blotches disappear. And, if your skin is displaying age spots, the cream or lotion should fade them out so that your skin has an even tone. You also want a cream that will tighten your skin and eliminate wrinkles to give it a more youthful tone.

What you don't want is a skin product with lots of harsh chemicals in it. These may give you short term benefits, but in the long term they will age your skin. And you want skin care products that have good ingredients which are helpful for the skin. Good examples are those that contain natural antioxidants and nutrients that can absorb into your skin and make it healthier.

When ordering your products via mail order or the Internet, its important to find those that have money back guarantees. This is because you are experimenting, and it may not work for you. So, if it doesn't satisfy your needs, you can return it, get your money back, and send off for another brand. And if it does work, you keep ordering it.
