Transitional Living in Phoenix while Overcoming Substance Abuse

Substance Abuse

Today it's sad to say substance abuse is rampant, old, young, women, men, rich , poor it does not matter, addiction is not biased. Alcohol and drug abuse go back centuries, it not till the last century that something has come that is real help for the addict.

I am talking about AA, it's 12 step program is the closest thing to a cure, but it is not easy, ironically it is simple, there are many addiction programs available in the United States, with many tale of success and failures, it really is up to he individual. The writer has first jand experience with many a program in several states, and I know first hand some of the pit falls, it's a life long struggle.

There are some programs that are better than others, but again it's the individual's perception, it's what works for him or her. There is a place called "Mandalay Village" in Phoenix Arizona, it promotes the 12 step program of AA, it's a community of men and women with different addictions based on different substances, there they learn to live again and take back the lives that they lost to they're addiction.

It's a living community that not only promotes sobriety but also positve living, doing things together like barbarcues, camping, tubing, swimming the type of activities addicts forgot about or never learned. They learned to be responsible, they are required to work, get a sponsor and work the steps, all healthy and positive actions.

We could use more of these villages.
