Choosing Where to Stay in London

There is only so much you can do in London in a single day. It's not surprising then that lots of people decide to spend two or three days in the city so they can see more of the sights and sounds it has to show them. This means you need to decide where you want to stay while you are in the capital. There are so many hotels, bed and breakfasts and other venues you could opt for, so it's not surprising that some people find it difficult to choose the best spot to stay in.

The best way to begin is to think about what you want to do while you are staying in London. For instance, your thoughts may be firmly focused on seeing a show in the West End and taking in some shopping at the same area. In this case you will want to stay somewhere in that area to keep your travel time down to a minimum.

Conversely, you might decide to see some of the biggest sights in the capital. You may want to visit Greenwich and some other key locations south of the river for example. In this case you would be better advised to stay south of the Thames.

As you can see it pays dividends to figure out where you are most likely to head for during your time in London. Even if your itinerary is only very rough it will help you to work out the best place to stay in while you are there.

Another point worth considering is your budget. You can stay in a top five star hotel if you wish but the prices will be very different from those that have three stars. As such it pays to think about how much you want to spend on your London break as a whole. You can then work out what portion of that amount you will have as spending money, and what portion can be used to pay for your accommodation.

Generally speaking you can expect to pay more for your accommodation if you are closer to the centre of London. If you go further away from the centre you can get cheaper rooms in many hotels and establishments. With tube and bus travel being quite easy to get at all times, this may be the best way to make a smaller budget go further.

The good news is that whatever kind of budget you have, there are lots of London hotels that will meet your needs perfectly. Give yourself time to go through them all and select the best one in the best location for you. Then you can look forward to a sensational break in London.
