subject: How To Build A Global Network Marketing Business [print this page]

Building a global network marketing business has become a greater possibility for the average network marketer than it ever has been. The rapid expansion of worldwide communications through the internet and wireless services has made this a possibility for any home based entrepreneur. Building a network marketing business internationally can be very rewarding, but it does come with some special considerations.

Cultural differences are one of the first things that need to be taken into consideration. The more you understand the culture you are building your team in the better off you will be. Greetings, for example, are very important in places like East Africa. Greetings go far beyond simply saying hello, but enter into inquiries about family, health and the overall well being of the person. It is also considered impolite not to convey your greetings to the family of the person you are speaking to. Another cultural issue deals with time and appointment setting. In many cultures, adherence to time is less critical than it is in North America. A meeting scheduled for 10AM may not actually begin until 12PM. Your ability to be flexible with these differences will be important to your long term success internationally.

Available resources are another critical area of consideration. While people throughout the world are utilizing wireless communications, the way their service works is often very different from what we are familiar with in North America. A typical plan in Asia and Africa works on a pay as you go structure. An individual is required to purchase bundles of minutes for their wireless phone service to work. This limitation may limit the participation of your network marketing team members in such things as conference calls. It is also important to remember that in many parts of the world internet access is only available in public cyber-cafe's. These work on a pay as you go basis, for the time you used the computer. This again may make lengthy webinars difficult for your team members to participate in. Tools and resources requiring a credit card for sign up and subscription may also present a problem to members of your global team.

Here are a few suggestions for building your business internationally that should make things easier.

* Check with your network marketing company to determine any additional requirements for sponsoring international team members. Your company should also be able to tell you what countries you are able to sponsor in.

* Target your pay-per-click advertising to the countries and regions you would like to build your business in.

* Use Skype for international conversations. Skype is a globally recognized instant messaging program that allows you to video conference with anyone in the world free of charge. If your team member has a slower connection forgo the video conferencing option and use a standard text based instant messenger session.

* Use online translation services such as Google Translate to convert text to and from English if written communication in another language would be more helpful to your team members.

* Utilize short streaming video segments through services such as Youtube to communicate important training information to your team. This will also help to remove the challenges created by time zone differences.

Although these things can be challenging, don't let them discourage you. A global network marketing business can be highly profitable and deeply rewarding.
