Surely, extracurricular activities are an important part of every students life. As a matter of fact, schools, colleges and universities promote students participation in different activities. On the one hand, activities maintain collaboration among students, on the other hand, they lower the percentage of drug-consuming, alcohol drinking and smoking among young people.

Extracurricular activities vary from sport to interest clubs. However, they are formally divided into three groups:

1.Those, which serve as the part of school program: sports, drama, music.

2.Those, which also continue the academic program, but can have short time duration like debate clubs, literature circle or other subject circles.

3.And those, organized by students themselves: various interest clubs.

Whatever extracurricular activity you chose, you can gain your personal benefit.

Let us consider what benefits can provide extracurricular activities.

1.First of all, it is a chance to do things you really like.

2.Second, it is an opportunity to meet new people with the same interests and, as a result, to find new friends. Moreover, you can practice your social skills.

3.Every activity develops specific skills including communication, personal professional and even transferable ones.

4.Including those skills into your college or job application can play a beneficial role for you. A college admissions officers pay special attention to the list of extracurricular activities that one performed at school. Your extracurricular activity may influence on the employers decision of your suitability to a job.

5.If you are not gifted academically, you may succeed in some creative activity like drama, theater, music or maybe sports.

6.Many activities can lead to the career. Thus, practicing sport, theater or journalism, you may express yourself in these professions and continue your education in these fields.
