Accommodation Suffolk

Suffolk is a very popular destination for those looking to escape the city, within a two hours drive of London and Cambridge, its no surprise that at any time of the year those wanting to get away for a few days, head to this region.

It has so much to offer, from visiting historic places of interest such as Framlingham Castle and the historic town of Bury St.Edmunds with its cathedral and grounds to cycling or walking the many routes along the coastline.

Framlingham is a magnificent example of a late 12th-century castle. Built by Roger Bigod, Earl of Norfolk, one of the most influential people at the court of the Plantagenet kings, the castle, together with Framlingham Mere, was designed both as a stronghold and a proclamation of power and status. Architecturally, the fortress is notable for its curtain wall with regular mural towers, being an early example of this style.

The choice of accommodation in Suffolk varies from b&bs, well known chains of hotels or smaller private hotels. Many fine hotels can be found at the coast who, in the summer months, play host to the many visitors and even in the colder months prove very popular for those looking to get away for a winter break.

The Suffolk beaches that line this stretch of coastline are generally pebbled and provide fantastic walks for the whole family and are great for summer fun, particularly popular with the younger generation.

If you are looking for accommodation in Suffolk, and you prefer to be located in an historic town and close to the beach, then Aldeburgh should be at the top of your list. The town is a traditional seaside town that has seen little change over the years. The high street hosts a variety of shops, antiques and galleries as well as the its own cinema.

Set away from the more busy parts of the town is the White Lion Hotel, at the northern end of the promenade yet a couple of minutes walk to the centre of town. The White Lion Hotel sits quite literally on the beach. It has fantastic views out to sea, has 38 bedrooms, and offers fine dining as well as a more casual dining offering in the sea-facing bar. For peace and quiet even in the busier times of the season, the White Lion Hotel will definitely provide you with a great relaxing stay.
