subject: Dealing with Bureau of Accounts Control? Constant calls and threats? [print this page]

Has anyone else dealt with harassment from Bureau of Accounts Control (BAC)? They’ve been calling me constantly, way more than 7 times in a week, and a collector recently threatened to sue me if I didn't pay immediately. It's been incredibly stressful, especially since I'm not even sure the debt is valid—I never got a written notice from them.

I started looking into my rights and found out their tactics might actually be illegal under the FDCPA and the newer CFPB rules. There are strict limits on how often they can call and what they can say, especially about lawsuits.

I came across this guide that explains exactly what they can and can't do, plus steps you can take like sending a cease and desist or demanding debt validation: End Bureau of Accounts Control Debt Collection Harassment

Just wanted to share in case it helps anyone else dealing with the same thing. What have your experiences been with them?
