Is Franchising the Way To Go?

These days it's important to ask yourself one question before starting a business: Should I explore franchise opportunities or start from scratch? The answer to this question is based on a myriad of different factors. Perhaps the most important factor is your experience business experience as well as experience working in a particular field such as commercial cleaning services. If you've got both in spades, an independent business model is probably your best bet. You can run your business the way you like and not have to pay any of your income to the franchisor. Many new cleaning services fail so there is risk, but there is a strong case to be made for the upside of an independent business. Another positive is the fact that when you start a cleaning business you'll likely invest far less money in your own startup opposed to a franchise.

Most folks, however, do not have the required experience and should explore franchising to see what they have to offer. For entrepreneurs interested in commercial cleaning services as their business model, there are numerous opportunities out there. Many prospective entrepreneurs looking into commercial cleaning services have cleaning experience but could benefit from having a franchise guide them through the startup logistics, short and long term planning, branding and marketing, and other issues that can be difficult for sole proprietors to get right. For example, think about the difference between Subway and your local sandwich shop. Franchisees, such as Subway owners, benefit from the name recognition and huge national advertising campaigns that the franchisor employs. Your startup will not have such luxuries. Franchise opportunities allow you to jump into the competitive arena instantly, not having to wait to establish your name or the credibility of your commercial cleaning services. As you can see there are pros and cons when evaluating new business ventures. However, as long as you are aware of your expertise level and what is required, you can be successful no matter what business model you choose to employ.
