A Comparison On 100% Cotton And Organic Cotton T Shirts Online

If you are not yet familiar with what organic really means, then a very good way to illustrate the concept is by taking a look at organic cotton t shirts online. Comparing 100% cotton, and 100% organic cotton is one way to point out the differences between the regular shirt, and the organic cotton t shirt.

When you look at t shirts, isn't it that one of the things that you tend to take a look at is the material that the shirt is made of? Sometimes you may see 60% cotton and 40% polyester at the label; but most of the time, you would be looking for 100% cotton, right?

While it may sound really good if you would be wearing 100% cotton t shirts but the luster is only superficial. These t shirts that have 100% cotton on their labels are mostly manufactured using cotton that was grown using non-environmental friendly means.

Usually, cotton farms where the raw cotton is sourced for the manufacture of these t shirts use pesticides and chemical-based fertilizers. These chemicals usually seep in the soil, and destroy the natural nutrients that are found there. They also get to spread in the atmosphere and harm living creatures in the area, like birds and fowls. In fact, some of these chemicals have been proven as carcinogens.

Most of these large cotton farms that are owned and operated by large clothing manufacturers mostly utilize these chemicals. Studies have shown that about 140 grams of fertilizers and pesticides are used to produce the adequate amount of cotton just for a single t shirt!

However, with every dark side, there is always a lighter side to it. There are clothing manufacturers like Certton in Australia, who actually don't adhere to the use of cotton, which have been grown using these harmful chemicals. They make sure that they utilize organic cotton in all their products.

Certton also makes sure that the health of the farmers tending the cotton fields are not put at such a great risk from exposure to harmful chemicals.

So the next time around that you try to shop for t shirts online, make sure that the shirts are made from 100% organic cotton. It is one way of making the better choice.
