Halloween costumes can be very costly but with just a little creativity and some simple items you can create a fun unique Halloween costume for either you or your children. If your child has their heart set on a specific costume that is hard to create, make sure you check for fliers, coupons or sales before you purchase. Some stores may decrease costs just days before Halloween. There are soo many great costume ideas that involve balloons or other fun items that kids love so just dig deep into your creativity and you might just come up with the perfect costume for your child that they will absolutely love.

Youll want to open your mind. Anything can inspire an idea for a costume so look around and pay attention when watching TV, looking through magazines and even things around your house.

Weve put together some budget friendly costume ideas to help that will steal the show. Most of the items you will need can either be found around the house or at a dollar store.

Bubble Bath costume Take a white laundry basket and cut out 2 holes so that the legs can fit through. You can also choose to cut the entire bottom and with some material, fit through the laundry basket holes that are either there or you can create to make shoulder straps. If your laundry basket has holes, use a white bed sheet to cover the inside so that the basket looks like a solid tub with no holes. Now blow up pearl white, white or pink balloons and tie them around the top rim of the basket representing the bubbles in the bath. You can have them overflowing for added effect. You can then wear either white or a nude coloured outfit complete with a shower cap, slippers and maybe carry around a bath brush. You can also use a rubber duck and tape it over top a balloon.

Dresser costume Get a large cardboard box. Cut out a hole for the head and holes for the arms. Draw a horizontal line going down the center of the front of the box and 2 vertical lines creating 6 rectangles that represent the drawer. Youll then want to get 6 styrofoam balls, glue one in the center of each rectangle to be the pull handles of the dresser. You can then paint the entire cardboard box white if you wish. Glue accessories such as hairclips or brushes on the top of the box. You can also cut half a sock and glue it on the top line of one of the rectangles to look as it the sock is hanging out the drawer. You can also wear a lampshade on your head so that your face and neck look like the base of the lamp.

Grapes costume - Wear purple, green or brown fitted clothes or tights. Blow up purple or green balloons and attach them with safety pins all over your body remembering to keep either the bottom or top more full creating a triangle like shape. You can top the costume up by painting your face and hands the same colour.

Nerd costume Wear pants that are too small, a shirt that is buttoned up wrong or tucked in perfectly in the pants that are pulled up way too high. Slick your hair back, wear a pair of glasses with tape in the middle. White socks that peek under your too short pants, and pens in your shirt pocket. Paint some ink under the shirt pocket to create the look of ink from an exploded pen and carry a newspaper under your arm.
