Over the years the affair has gained momentum and includes over 500 acts drawing throngs of people; all proceeds are in aid of charity.
The festival usually takes place in November over a period of about ten days. People line up on streets, pour out onto balconies and gather by the thousand into open spaces to watch as the buskers pass by. The lively song and dance, theatricals, dare devil stunts and carnival like atmosphere are not something most people want to miss.
