Singapore River Buskers' Festival Juggling All The Way

Down the busy wayside, past the river bed and meandering through Singapores celebrated street Orchard Road go the merry making buskers from all over the world. The already colourful roadsides of Singapore take on an even brighter hue during the weeks of the festival and are almost impassable. Busking or performing on the streets was once a banned activity in Singapore, but to make the entertainment arena more enticing, the tourism authority brought in a motion to permit it. As a result one of the biggest busking festivals in the whole of Asia is now held within the boundaries of little Singapore.

Acrobats, comedians, jugglers, mimers and musicians from all over the world take part in this spectacle which has now become a regular feature of the Singaporean events calendar. Some of the most noteworthy performers at this event are the two comedians from Britain who perform on stilts, the Australian funnyman Andy Zap and the ballet hooligans from Britain. Over the years the affair has gained momentum and includes over 500 acts drawing throngs of people; all proceeds are in aid of charity.

The festival usually takes place in November over a period of about ten days. People line up on streets, pour out onto balconies and gather by the thousand into open spaces to watch as the buskers pass by. The lively song and dance, theatricals, dare devil stunts and carnival like atmosphere are not something most people want to miss.

You too can be a part of the scintillating display of talent and contribute to charity while enjoying the ambience of a luxury hotel in Singapore. Atop the balcony of a Singapore hotel you will be able to catch a birds eye view of the street fiesta. One of the ideal locations to watch the performers and be a part of the fun and cheer is the Raffles Hotel, Singapore which is admired for emulating the high spirits all year round.
