Tajmahal - A Tribute To Beauty

At one time the capital state of the Mughal rulers in the 16th centuary, Agra is approximately one and a half hours by fast trains from New Delhi. Travelers from all around the world vacation in Agra not to see the remains of the red sandstone fortress constructed by the Mughal emperors but to make a pilgrim tour to Taj Mahal, Indias mainly celebrated architectural marvel.

The beautiful monument, Taj Mahal is positioned on the edge of River Yamuna, which otherwise serves as a wide structure otherwise shielding the grand Red Fort of Agra, the midpoint of the Mughal emperors until they shifted their capital to Delhi in 1637. It was constructed by the fifth Mughal emperor, Shah Jahan around 1631 in remembrance of his second wife, Mumtaz Mahal, a Muslim Persian princess.

Building of this monument commenced in 1631 and was accomplished in 22 years. The material was transported in from all around the country and central Asia and it took a task force of 1000 elephants to transport it to the site. It was planned by the Iranian architect Ustad Isa

As a mark of respect to a gorgeous and attractive woman and as a tombstone for lasting love, the Taj discloses its intricacy when one goes over there but without being in a hurry. The rectangular foundation of Taj is in itself representative of the diverse sides from which to observe a good-looking woman.

The dome is constructed in white marble, but the grave is set against the plain across the river and it is this backdrop that exhibits its magic of colours that, through their reflection, totally transforms the view of the Taj. The colors vary at dissimilar hours of the day and all through the different seasons. It shimmers like a jewel under the moonlight when the semi-precious stones inlaid into the white marble on the chief burial chamber hold the glow of the moon. The Taj is reddish pink in the morning, absolutely white during the sunset and golden when the moon shines. These adjustments they say are actually displaying the different frame of mind of a woman.

People from all over the world have dissimilar views of the Taj but it would be sufficient to say that the Taj has a life of its own that jumps out of marble, if at all you comprehend that it is a monument of love. As an architectural masterwork, nothing could be further added or deducted from it.
