Table Mountain soars to close to 1,000m above the city and is certainly one of the most recognised places in the world. Adventurous holidaymakers might take on the several trekking trails towards the summit or alternatively, there is a cable car which usually takes only three minutes to reach to summit.

The Winelands of the Western Cape are regarded throughout the entire world and the wineries of Stellenbosch, Franschhoek and Paarl date back ages. The many different wine routes are complimented by many restaurants, cafes and guest houses with amazing menus and substantial wine lists.

The prison at Robben Island is the place Nelson Mandela as well as other members of the ANC were interned for many years. Positioned 8 miles off shore from Green Point, Robben Island is today a museum honouring the brave people who were imprisoned here. It was eventually designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1999.

About 1 hour towards the east of Cape Town is the town of Hermanus which happens to be accepted as without doubt one of the best destinations in the world to see whales from the shoreline. Between June and November every year, the Southern Right Whales go past Hermanus as part of their migration route.

In Cape Town, the Victoria and Albert Waterfront is the centrepiece of the urban centre with world class shopping, places to eat, cafes, pubs and nightspots. The marina boasts a few of the top hotels in the Mother City as well as the Two Oceans Aquarium.

For the people visiting the Western Cape, the Garden Route is really a location that simply needs to be discovered. This stunning part of coast between the Mother City and Port Elizabeth is undoubtedly one of the most favourite spots in South Africa. Matted woodlands, cliffs, striking cliffs and sandy shorelines are a part of the surroundings. You can find a good number of small towns along the Garden Route presenting many different lodgings and cusine experiences.
