Lantern Festival at Longtanhu Park

The 5th Lantern Festival Longtanhu Park has been officially opened on 21st September 2010 last week, prior of the mid autumn festival. The lantern festival will be taken place for about two weeks and lasts on October 7, the final day of the golden festive holiday in October. This unique festival has been attracting many visitors for the previous years and for security reason, when the total amount of passenger flow within the park reaches the maximum limit at 57 thousands, the ticketing counter will be closed and the police will assist the management team of the park to guide visitors in order to avoid any bad incidents to occur.

According to the spokesperson of the management office, 39 camcorders which fully monitored by police will be set within the park for the reason of passenger control. Moreover, there will be four emergency exits available throughout the whole park. In case of thunder storm or any bad weather occurs during visiting hours of the park, all emergency lights within the park will be lighted up and police will be responsible to guide visitors to the nearest emergency exit. All visitors are required to follow the instruction of the police during excavation for your own security purpose.

The lantern festival at Longtanhu Park this year will be highlighted with 60 sets of huge and beautifully decorated lanterns. 36 sets out of the total 60 sets lantern are placed on water while the rest are situated on ground within the area of the park. When you are here, the colorful lighted lanterns that create festive and lively surrounding will allow you to gain wonderful experience regarding the traditional festival of Chinese community. Besides that, a large scale musical fountain will be performed as per scheduled to entertain visitors as well. There will be many families that brought along parents and kids to enjoy the fun of musical fountain in the night.

According to the representative of police station, the relatively long Lang Bridge and relatively narrow Longji Bridge will be closed for crossing throughout the festival for the security purpose of visitors. Moreover, Shuangxing Bridge (Double Star Bridge), Jiaotong Bridge (Traffic Bridge), Bailong Bridge (White Dragon Bridge) and Qinglong Bridge (Green Dragon Bridge) might be limited to one way crossing in case of heavy traffic load across the bridges.

Special warning from the police, visitors should obey the rules and instruction of staffs or police while visiting the park. Besides that, visitors are required to stand beyond the security lines while watching the lanterns or musical fountain show. Do take good care of old family members and kids as well as your own belongings. If necessary, do contact the staffs of the park to make public announcement to find your separated family members.

The operating hours of the lantern festival is between 4pm to 9.30pm. You may avoid the peak hours which is from 7pm to 8.30pm if you do not want to be crowded with people.
