My Dream Wedding

After all the excitement of your fianc proposing to you, you stop and think about planning a wedding. You ask yourself "Where in the world do I begin?" My goal today is to point you in a direction that will at least get you started down your path of eternal happiness also known as marriage. Pay attention and jot down a few pointers to help you get your feet a little wet.

One of the initial steps in planning a wedding is to put together a budget of how much money you will be willing to spend on this special occasion. After you have a number in mind, cut it down by about 15% to 25%. The reason behind this is to allow yourself a cushion for unexpected expenses that are bound to pop up. Now that you have a number in mind, you can start to plan things according to your wants and desires.

There are some questions that you should ask yourself before you get started. Is your wedding something that you would like to plan yourself? Or hire a professional out to do it for you. With this in mind, it's important to consider your work schedule. Do you have time to shop around, compare prices, colors, locations? If you do not have time to do it all or just simply don't want to, it may be wise to find someone to do it for you. This will allow you a stress free engagement and time to enjoy your pre-married life. If it's not in your budget to hire a professional then doing it yourself is 100% ok.

It's good to get an idea of what you might like. Start searching out bridal magazines and talk to family and friends that have recently been married and ask them what they would do differently and what they loved about the way they did it. There are websites galore on the internet that will have suggestions, pictures, ideas and much more to help you find what you really want.

Depending on your location, start looking for places that you would like to be married at. The possibilities are endless as well as exciting. You could get married on a beach, in the mountains, at your temple, in a barn. Be creative but don't forget about your budget.

After you have a decided on a date and location start to think about your guest list and who you would want to invite. It's good to get an idea of your guests before you decide on your dinner so you can plan what kind of food to serve based on prices. Same with wedding announcements, how many do you need to make so you don't have an overabundance of announcements left over.

After your guest lists have been put together and decisions have been made for caterers you can start focusing on engagement pictures, bridesmaids, groomsmen's and the most important thing of allYOUR WEDDING DRESS! Planning a wedding can be fun and exciting. It's every brides dream to look your best at your wedding. Shop around for dresses. If you have a strict budget you can search on your local classified ads for wedding dresses. Typically a wedding dress is worn once or twice then tossed in the closet and never worn again. You can buy a used one that is virtually brand new for a fifth of the price. Matching a pair of shoes to your dress is the easy part. Colorful Creations is a great brand to help you find those perfect shoes for that special occasion (like your wedding). Wedding shoes can be very expensive but if you shop around you can find certain sites will sell them at a fair price.

When all is said and done, the most important thing is that you stick to your budget, and enjoy the time you have to spend with your future spouse.
