Sopas A Popular Noodle Soup Recipe For Kids

Sopas, a Spanish word for soup and a popular recipe in Philippines and other countries influenced by Spanish culture. Sopas is usually prepare for breakfast and for lunch as a side dish for dry recipe such as fried or grill menu. Sopas is usually prepare using elbow macaroni as noodles along with pork, beef, or chicken as the meat recipe. Sopas is the most popular soup recipe for kids because of the elbow macaroni that look so attractive for kids but for the reason of its delicious taste. To make the soup for sopas much tastier I usually use bone of chicken, pork, or beef to extract extra flavor. If you want to try to cook an all time favorite soup for Filipino recipe for kids here is my method for cooking.

Ingredient for Beef Sopas:

Macaroni elbow kilogram

1 liter of water

Beef spare ribs 1 kilogram, washed

1 beef cubes seasoning

2-3 tbsp minced garlic

1 tbsp cooking oil

2-3 tbsp butter or margarine

1 medium size onion, peeled and slice

2-3 tbsp Patis or fermented fish sauce

1 carrots, peeled and cut into strips

100 gram cabbage, slice

tbsp ground peppercorn

Vetsin

Salt to taste

Hard boiled egg

1 small can of Alaska evaporated milk

Procedure for Cooking Beef Spare Ribs Sopas:

Cut and washed spare ribs, drain. Bring to boil spare ribs with 1 litre of water, salt, and onion using a casserole, upon boiling turn the fire into low and simmer for 45 minute or until the meat tenderize, add water if needed. Separate meat from the broth, set aside broth for future use. In a separate casserole bring to boil 1 liter of water, add salt and tbsp of cooking oil, upon boiling add elbow macaroni and cook for 10 15 minute or until noodle soften, set aside. Heat grease less pan, add 1 tbsp of cooking oil and 2 tbsp of heaping butter, saut garlic, onion, and cook spare ribs meat. Add patis (fish sauce), cover and simmer for few minute (5 7 minute). Add beef broth and bring to boil and simmer for few minute. Add macaroni noodle and cook for another minute, season with salt, beef cubes seasoning, then add carrots and cabbage. Lastly include evaporated milk to add flavor and creaminess, taste and add salt if needed. Sopas is best served when the food is newly cook, it can be eaten along with white rice to compliments fried or grilled recipe. Sopas is also eaten for breakfast or merienda (mid meal snacks) along with rice cake (Puto), enjoy.
