Win The Psychological Battle Of Weight Loss

Some of you may not realize that psychology plays a major role in successful weight loss. Several studies have taken the time to pursue this issue in depth. One research group studied women who each lost over 15 pounds while maintaining their lower weight for around 7 years.

It was clear that the women did indeed have things in common. For instance, they all had a firm support network to back them being family or program orientated. This is important to recognize that they were not alone in their way of thinking.

These women were also found to change their mood towards weight loss as they became thinner. While they held the extra weight, the studies leaned towards a depressed mood for these women but once they began their weight loss journey, their mood lifted.

Healthy eating became a must and all of the women stuck to their diet plans. One by one they each recognized psychology as an important aspect of losing weight. They all chose to take the positive path rather than giving in to the negative emotions they had. They also charted their progress by weighing themselves regularly.

Each one of the women understood that their weight loss maintenance would be ongoing for life. Choosing a weight loss plan and then not completing it, was no longer an option. All of their eating patterns changed so that they could continue to follow their new diet plans each and every week.

Before reaching their ideal weight, all the women agreed that they experienced some weight gain within their weight loss journey. Even though they gained weight, they did not let this stop them from achieving their goals. Rather than view this as a setback, they viewed the weight gain as a challenge.

Another noteworthy point to make was that all the women studied showed genuine happiness when they were thinner. This shows us that psychology has a big impact on weight loss and individuals. While recognizing psychology is part of successful weight loss, preparation to battle psychology head on will help a great deal along the way.

Remember that there is no one single factor that can make you lose weight but a combination of factors that includes psychology for long-term weight loss. Realizing that psychology is a component of long-term weight loss is half the battle. The study shows that if you accept the psychology to losing weight and retrain yourself to choose healthier foods to eat, then you will be able to transform not only your mind, but your body as well.
