Try a Scooby Doo Child Costume - Join the Mystery Inc Gang for Halloween

Is there a Scooby Doo costume on your radar this year? Do you remember that goofy Great Dane character in the "Scooby Doo, Where Are You!" cartoon series? Clumsy and lovable, he is adored by children as well as adults as he helps the Mystery, Inc. gang solve crimes and catch villains.

For Halloween this year, a Scooby Doo costume is a classic choice for your child, whether he wants to go trick or treating with you or with his own friends all dressed as the Mystery, Inc. gang.

Scooby Doo Characters

There is a character to suit everyone from the Mystery, Inc. gang. Here are examples of what the characters look like in the cartoon if you need costume ideas. Fred is the blonde-haired muscular leader and wears jeans, a white long-sleeved shirt and his orange ascot. Daphne is the fashionable redhead and wears a purple dress, pink pantyhose, purple shoes and her headband or scarf. Velma is the genius of the bunch, with her horn-rimmed glasses (which she frequently loses), a baggy orange turtleneck sweater, short pleated skirt, knee-high socks and Mary Janes. And of course there is Shaggy, the easy-going slacker wearing his flared brown pants and a long baggy green shirt and he's always hungry!

Do you remember the green van they drove? It was called The Mystery Machine. Later in the series, new characters were added to the show. Scrappy Doo and Scooby Dum made their appearances in several episodes.

If you have more than one child, or if your child's "gang" wants to go out together, each of them can pick a character from Scooby's gang!

How to Buy a Scooby Doo Costume

Scooby Doo has been popular since 1969. Spin-off series and even movies continue to make it a favorite character for costumes and clothing. One place to shop for costumes is your local discount or department store. In the past, these stores were a favorite place to shop for a variety of costumes. But, be aware that many stores are now down-sizing the costume selections. This leaves consumers picking through only a few choices.

Buying online is another place to shop and gives you the convenience of shopping with your child, in your spare time and in the comfort of your own home. By shopping online early, you will avoid the crowds and be free to plan the other special details for Halloween night.
