subject: London Boy Marries Bombay Girl... Sheraton, Udaipur - 2011 [print this page]

Udaipur, City of Lakes which has now turned into the City of Destination Weddings, is always on minds of Indian wedding planners. Sheraton, Udaipur, which is the only property that boasts of a 230 plus room inventory saw the biggest theme wedding of the season with Momentum Group. Kunal Sikka from London was down with his entourage of 400 guests from all over the world just to whisk away his beautiful Bombay bride, Prerna Mehra. She was one of the few brides who did not just have endless ideas for her dream wedding but also was involved in the minutest details of it all. And we ensured she actually got what she had envisaged. With a background of professional event management, it wasnt difficult for Momentum Group to turn her dream into realty. Everything - from ring ceremony, mehndi to sangeet and wedding ceremony - was arranged by Momentum Group as they wanted to fill this wedding with life time memories.

Momentum Group made her ring ceremony memorable by arranging a romantic setting near the poolside with thousands of starry lights & 5000 of candles as per special request from the bride herself. Aqua was a prominent color of the evening enhanced with crystals, mirrors & blue orchids to complete the look. The color changing lit panels provided the necessary drama. The Indian Live band spelled magical music that even arrested the fragrance of this evening.

A secret after party was kept at the discotheque of Sheraton poolside only for youngsters to really let it out. And we cant really tell you much about it as this is supposed to be kept secret.

Mehndi was a complete traditional Rajasthani affair, colorful with an essence of earthy feel. Bright colors with long floral rangoli welcomed everyone into the lawns of famous heritage property Trident Udaivillas, Udaipur. Rajasthani artifacts made for the centerpieces of each guest table set up. Needless to say a Rajasthani folk langa singers, bhavaai & ghoomer dancers and the kachchi ghodi resonated through this afternoon.

Sangeet at the Sheraton ball room wore a Punjabi village look with huts, khatia seating, an authentic Punjabi bar and much more. Momentum Group invited pop singer Vipin Aneja to steal the hearts of Indian & foreign guests alike he interacted and danced with them on his own tunes. His unstoppable performance contained foot tapping authentic Punjabi, popular Punjabi & Bollywood Punjabi tracks. Bhangra troupe & family performance where the other highlights of this Punju Sangeet.

The Wedding ceremony was spread over 2 lush lawns in a complete royal setting of Gold & rich Maroon Velvet. The baraat consisted of Chariots, elephants & other performers along with the ghodi and band. A long walkway made of several floral arches lit by multiple diyas (again on special request of the bride) gave a warm welcome to the baraatis. The varmala exchange saw some motorized heavy floral showering (that was the surprise given to the bride by Momentum Group). Tall floral peacocks guarded the wedding ceremony area that was designed to look like a part of the Sheraton architecture.

Apart from putting the themes together, Momentum Group ensured the guests had a 24 hour help desk that they could bother for any big or small query. Hospitality included baggage handling, travel arrangements, site seeing assistance to ensuring that the Rajasthani return gifts reached all before they left for their respective flights. The best part about this wedding in our opinion was that the next day, newly weds saw everyone off personally over a champagne brunch. Prerna Mehra Sikka continues to be a friend forever for all the togetherness that Momentum Group shared while planning her wedding.
