How To Make A Family Tree Chart Into A Scrapbook

A Family Tree is a method of tracing family relationships. Family trees trace relations or ancestry. The family tree can be in different formats. The formats can be a, a chart, a diagram or a more artistic portrayal of a family ancestry. Family Trees can be used for tracing ancestors, hereditary traits and medical conditions. A family tree can start with the oldest known family member and work down to the current family members, but sometimes the family tree can work in the opposite direction. In the past, information had to be obtained from a lot of different sources to trace the family ancestors. Today there are different ways to make family trees. There are several websites available and there is also some software that makes the work of information gathering a much easier task for making a family tree.

The tracing of family relationships is the content of a family tree. The family tree can cover many generations of family members. It can be complicated or simple. The format used for a family tree depends on what type of information is required. If, for example, the information only goes back a few generations, the format can be of a "tree" type. If, though the information goes back many generations and the family is very large, a pie chart can be used. What type of format is used is up to the maker. Sometimes artists will take the information from a family tree and make a rendering of the information in a creative way. These renderings often become treasured family heirlooms and become passed down from generation to generation.

The tracing of ancestors can be purely informational, as in a school assignment. School children are often assigned a project to make a family tree. The child starts with him or herself, and builds on the information they have. The child will ask different family members about other family members and put all of this information as a diagram or chart. It will show the child, his or her siblings, the parents of the children, the parents' siblings, their children, the parent's parents, or grandparents expanding on until no more information can be gathered. Family trees are also used in the medical field to trace certain conditions and traits. This type of family tree is called a genogram. Certain medical conditions and family traits can be traced through out generations.

Today, in the 21st Century, making a family tree has become easier than it used to be. The computer and the internet have made the information gathering a shorter and more complete process. There are several websites which access databases across the world to allow people to trace their biological and family connections. There is also software available which not only keeps track of the information found, it also accesses websites and databases to make the job easier. The finished project can be stored on the computer, or it can be printed in a paper format to be displayed. The computer software allows changes to be made either when more information is obtained about the past, or more members of the family are born.
