subject: What Do You Need To Run A Successful Kids Birthday Party [print this page]

Planning a kids birthday party can be a stressful time for any parents. However, with careful planning it can be a smooth and enjoyable time for all. So What is needed for a successful birthday party?

Well the first thing is to decide what type of party you require. How old is the child?, Are they male or female? Would they like a themed party?. Bear in mind with themed parties kids interests change. Dont plan for a Batman party only to find twelves months down the line your child is now into Ben 10. The best way to find out is to ask the party host, your child!. Your child will tell you exactly the kind of party they would like, where they would like to have it and who they would like to invite. Getting them involved can make them feel more responsible and avoid any disappointments down the line.

Next is the venue. The venue is obviously the most important part of a birthday party. Here you have a choice either host the party yourself or book a kids party venue. Hosting the party yourself can save on the budget, however you will be responsible for entertaining the kids, catering for the party, and your house will not be your own for the day. Keep all valuable and sentimental items out of reach, and also do a quick risk assessment. Having one child in your house is different then twenty to thirty. An alternative to this is to hire a venue. A kids play area is a great place. Here all party planning is down to the owners of the venue and all you have to do is look after your own child!. Most places will arrange games, food, party bags, leaving you to have a well earned coffee and enjoy the moment. Prices can range according the amount of children that need entertaining, and a small deposit made be required to book the venue. Having a good idea on numbers is a good idea here. Parties usually last for two to three hours, or if your budget extends, you can even book the venue out for the whole day including a disco.

Next is food. What kind of food do you require. Will you hire an outside caterer? Or do the food yourself. Will you require a cold or hot buffet?. Do any of the guests have any dietary requirements. Feeding a child who is allergic to something, can be very messy and dangerous. Again if you book a venue then they should be able to guide you towards catering, and may even offer various food packages. Remember to book the venue in plenty of time and ring a few places first. If you have time even take your kids to try out the venue first!!.

On a last tip do not forget party invites. Letting your guests know when, where and a RVSP, can be a great help to budgeting for kids party.
