Really Low-cost Golf, Summer Time in Phoenix

If your affection for the game of golf is anything like mine you owe it to yourself to visit the spectacular golfing state of Arizona, in particular the Phoenix regional area. With over 325 sun filled days a year and more than three hundred golf courses in the vicinity this is truly a golf lover's mecca. As a matter of fact a number of golfers on the PGA Tour call Phoenix home. The famous golf club producer PING is also based here in Scottsdale.

But lets get to the point, some of the cheapest golf in the Country can be played in the Phoenix area in the summer. Did I hear you say I must be insane! Well, maybe a little, but at that time of year would you believe you can actually play 18 holes of golf on some courses for under $10.00! With the many different golf courses in the Phoenix area there is alot of competition between courses to draw in golfers. I have actually played Springfield Lakes in Chandler a number of times this summer for $12.50. That's eighteen holes with a cart and I have heard them running deals for 8 bucks!

There really isn't any secret to playing summer golf in Phoenix, just tee off very early. The summer months here can be brutally warm. Try and get a tee time for 5:30am or 6 at the latest. Some courses won't allow tee times before 6am. Here are the main advantages to getting on the course early: 1) Low-priced golf need I say more. 2) Hopefully, you are the first one or group on the course for the day. That means there is no one in front of you. 3) In addition to number 2, if you are the first one on the course and tee off at 5:30am you're done by 9am before it gets unbarebly hot.

Summer time golf prices usually range from about $15.00 - $75.00 per round. High end or exclusive golf courses can cost well over $200 per round in the winter months. Now you can see why it's hard to beat summer golf here!

If you are coming from out of state this is also the cheapest time of year for both resorts/hotels and air fare. It's not uncommon to reserve a room at a resort for half the winter time price. When you're done golfing float in the pool the rest of the day with your favorite beverage.

Just a couple other words of advice for summer golf in Phoenix. Bring a lot of water and stay hydrated, dehydration can sneak up on you abruptly. Wear plenty of 30spf sunscreen and a wide brimmed sun-hat is also recommended. Sun shades are also a must. I hope to see you on the links!
