Diwali, popularly known as festival of lights, symbolizes prosperity and happiness. Traditionally, this day is celebrated because Lord Ram returned to his kingdom after slaying Ravaan on this day. On Diwali, people generally decorate their houses with oil lamps (diyas) and exotic candles. Also, on this occasion womenfolk love preparing rangoli at the doorstep of their house. Rangoli at the door step signifies that you are welcoming guests on the occasion of Diwali.

When we talk about gifts, some of the popular gifts during Diwali are diyas, candles, sweets and crackers for kids. Not just houses, during Diwali markets and offices are also decorated. Markets are flooded with alluring diyas and candle packs.

Kids and Diwali

Generally, kids get and deserve all the attraction during Diwali. For children, this festival means lot of fun and enjoyment. Along, with excitement on the festival, children should be taught meaning of the festival and they should be made aware when exactly Diwali is celebrated and what is its significance. Parents and elders at home should narrate the story of Lord Ramas Victory and the legends of Mahalakshmi to the children. They should be taught right moral that is the triumph of good over evil.

Diwali is one of the main festival and schools on this occasion celebrate it with fun and frolic.
