subject: A Beach Wedding With Some Flair To It [print this page]

A beach wedding can be many things, such as fun, elegant or very whimsical. However, how do you know if a beach wedding is right for you? If you are not a beach going type of person, then why have the most important day of your life at the beach? On the other hand, if you are a beach goer, then your personality matches the setting and thus making a wedding at the beach all that much better.

There are so many great ideas for a beach wedding theme at any beach, or even a Hawaii wedding theme. The great thing about a beach wedding is that you can keep it real basic, such as going barefoot with Hawaiian shirts and dresses along with leis or take it to the extreme with costumes from various beach or ocean themes. Here are just a couple of ideas to consider for your beach wedding theme.

Sailing The Ocean Blue

If sailing is your thing, consider a nautical theme. You could wear a beautiful, yet simple wedding dress, that is very sleek and form fitting. Meanwhile your spouse may option to dress as the captain of the ship and wear a skipper style uniform. Perhaps a Navy style or dark navy blue pants with some kind of boating themed shirt, and of course the skipper's hat.

Your wedding can take place on the boat as the boat sails around the harbor. Examples of decor could include using the netting that they use to catch fish with to decorate tables or have it hanging from the ceiling along with anchors and rope. You could include a lighthouse as your cake topper, along with "message in a bottle" as wedding favors for your guests.

Hawaii Wedding Ideas

A Hawaii beach wedding can be very romantic. The sounds of traditional Hawaiian music can make you feel as if you were there. Most Hawaiian weddings are fairly simple, so when choosing your wedding dress, select a nice airy one that is simple. You can opt for a short dress or go for a Hawaiian style wedding dress called a Holoku.

The groom could wear khaki pants with a white or a Hawaiian shirt while wearing a lei around his neck. The wedding party can either wear sun dresses or go with Hawaiian style clothing with nice bright colors, along with wearing flip flops.

For some flair to your event, consider having hula dancers wearing grass skirts or walk down the aisle to the music of Elvis Presley's version of the "Hawaiian Wedding Song." If you need some additional inspiration, rent the movie "Blue Hawaii" and the options can be endless.

Beach Party Wedding Ideas

A beach wedding party theme is something you can really let your creative juices flow and yet keep it casual and budget friendly. If going casual, you can wear a sweet little sundress while your groom wears shorts and a short sleeved shirt. Be sure to inform your guests to dress for the beach so that they can be comfortable and not feel overdressed for your theme. Perhaps some may want to bring their bathing suits for after the event.

A different idea for your reception could be the use of beach towels instead of chairs, but be sure to provide some shade for everyone. You could also bring some beach balls and sand pails for the kids to play with. As for food, you can treat it like a nice summer get together and have a barbeque and play some games such volleyball.

There are really no rules for a beach party wedding theme. That's one thing that is nice about it, it allows you to do whatever you like to do and just because you are grown-ups, it doesn't mean you have to go by the book. Only you can make your wedding memorable and unique to you and your spouse.

Real Extreme Beach Wedding Ideas

For something really out there, you could have your hair put up with kind of a whimsical curl, then add a star fish in your hair or some beautiful pearls. After your hair is set, wear a mermaid style dress or you can opt for a wedding dress that is blue to match the ocean color.

For some that push to the extreme, you may dress yourself as Ariel from "The Little Mermaid" and have a themed wedding. Of course then your groom would dress as Prince Eric. Your cake could be sea foam green or a beautiful ocean blue with sea shells or wrapped in some seaweed. Dinner? How about Sebastian, the crab.
