Children Need To Be Disciplined For Their Own Development

The world has something to offer to everyone and nature can be called the wealth house of knowledge. Every time nature teaches us something as we grow and evolve a step more. Nature plays a vital role in human development. In India, the Gurukul system was ubiquitous in which the children used to get education in an environment set close to nature. The students in the Gurukul led a life of isolation where they were trained for formal education as well as taught how to improve their self and how to lead a life of strict discipline. Later Rabindranath Tagore, who was dissatisfied with the western model of education, felt that the Gurukul system had several merits and could prove useful in educating the children of India in natural surroundings and building their character and sense of appreciation. Thus he started the system of open air classrooms in Shantiniketan which came to be a unique world well designed to promote education. It developes the character to observe, explore, play, and communicate with others in ways that provide us with the skills, knowledge, and values needed to live and thrive in the physical and social world into which we are born. We do this with great concentration and joy.

Children Need To Be Disciplined For Their Own Development

Experiences and education is basic to the development of the whole child. The outdoor classroom style fosters learning through exploration, creativity, cooperative activities, and non-competitive games. Children tend to learn most effectively in ways that make a persistent, considerable and positive influence on the way they think, behave or feel. In a natural environment, children try to solve problems or create something new that they find beautiful and important. The basic skills are obviously important for every child to but by themselves they are not adequate. Research shows that children master skills more easily when they learn them completely. Moreover, its very important to provide the kids a free environment so that they can explore the world in a new light. By restricting the natural instincts of the children, we slow down their physical and mental development.

The schools are giving sufficient importance on offering the children a natural environment so that they can develop holistically. There are many schools which promote Yoga and physical training classes in close relation to nature. According to experts, yoga can provide much needed centering techniques in children who have busy lives. Yoga can become a major way for them to remain balanced and slow pace. It can balance and dynamics of rapid growth by enabling the growing bodies of children to stretch. The present day parents have also become conscious in setting their homes as close to nature as possible. Research has shown that children spending more time in a natural setting develop their creative expertise more rapidly. So the need is now to look back into our past where nature was the prime source of inspiration and implement natural learning ways for the kids so that they can broaden up their imagination to the fullest.
