Greg Heffley is an undersized American kid that is the permanent butt of jokes at his school. Detailed in his diary, he complains about his home life, school bullies and his brother Roderick. The only thing that really keeps him sane is his best friend Rowley, who is even more uncool than he is. Unfortunately for Greg, as they go into a new grade at school Rowleys popularity increases, although Greg manages to use this to better himself but will their friendship stand up to it?

Twelve - The Sisterhood of the Travelling Pants by Ann Brashares

The Sisterhood of the Travelling Pants is the first instalment in a five part series for teenagers. It follows four American girls as they each go their separate ways over the school summer holidays, all sharing the same pair of jeans that they all manage to fit into despite their different sizes. Each girl experiences life changing events over the summer, teaching them vital life lessons.

Thirteen - The Cardturner by Louis Sachar

The Cardturner is an unusual story about Alton Richards, whose family have extreme money problems. His grandfather is an excellent bridge player, but his eyesight isnt what it used to be. Alton becomes his cardturner, being his eyes and hands during bridge tournaments. Alton decides to attempt to hoodwink his grandfather but quickly realises he isnt as oblivious as he first thought.

Fourteen - Noah Barleywater Runs Away by John Boyne

Written by the author of The Boy with the Striped Pyjamas, this book follows Noah as he runs away from his parents, but as he makes his way through the forest he takes a hidden path that leads him to a magical toyshop. The toymaker tells him a story that has drastic consequences, but what are they?

Fifteen - H.I.V.E. Dreadnought by Mark Walden

At the H.I.V.E. (Higher Institute of Villainous Education) children with an uncanny ability to be bad are taught how to become criminal masterminds, but one of the institutes best students, Otto Malpense, is on the run from the US government and must find out who his real friends are before time runs out for him.
