Health Insurance For The Short Term

So far the government has not managed to get into the health care business, but with the rising jobless numbers, people are finding themselves in need of health insurance coverage and no where to turn to for help. There already exists government programs that do assist some people struggling with no health insurance, but for those in the age group of 25 to 50, and receiving the least help, simply because the category they fall into makes them ineligible for government assistance for their health care needs unless of course they are pregnant or handicapped. These however, are generally the only exceptions.

If you are one of the many jobless individuals without the benefits of the associated insurance, you most likely will have to pay for your own health insurance out of your own pocket and this might be a real financial problem for many of the individuals to do. One option you might have is being offered the chance of getting COBRA coverage.

COBRA is simply a way of extending a employer based insurance play after a person is no longer employed by the company and the law dictates that the company notify the ex-employee of this option to consider within 30 days of the last day of work. The downside of this option for many unemployed persons is that they must pay the entire premium out of their own pockets and there is no company reimbursement to be expected when the employment comes to an end. The government usually provides some assistance, but even with this assistance, many people are still unable to make the COBRA payments on their own.

As it turns out, there are other more affordable options than the COBRA plan that are available such as a discount medical card and will help make at least some medical health care affordable through a catastrophic plan or short term insurance coverage plan as the best option to secure. Regardless of the choice you choose you will enjoy the benefits of being covered during unemployment for a period of time.
Health Insurance For The Short Term

Unemployment is devastating and something that many families are dealing with these days. When it comes to taking care of health insurance there are many options for the younger members of your family but when it comes to coverage for the adults in your family you may just have to get by with minimal health insurance coverage until you can obtain another job that offers benefits. This is a reality that many American's are facing and it is unfortunately that this is what life in the U.S. has come to.
