subject: The Courage Of Russian Women Who Challenge Their Fate [print this page]

The courage of Russian women who challenge their fate is admirable. Fate has determined that many find themselves in straitened financial circumstances due to the history of the world. Since the eighteenth century individuals have challenged their fate either by altering the social system in which they find themselves or by breaking away to seek their fortune in new parts of the planet where different circumstances pertain. This has always required great courage.

A history of the world shows that west European countries began to expand during the eighteenth century into America, Australia, Africa and parts of the world which were rich in resources. Imperial Russia expanded to the east where China was already a dense and organized civilization. This may have contributed to why both countries adopted disastrous economic policies that impoverished all but a few leading to poverty and inequality which was possible even worse than had been the case before.

It is beyond dispute that Communism was subverted by dictators who grabbed power and wealth for themselves, leaving the populace of the countries impoverished. It was only late in the twentieth century that oppressive ideologies lifted, allowing individuals the freedom to alter the fate that had befallen them. Many sought to migrate to the west where a higher quality of life seemed to beckon.

Although many colonists made fortunes out of land, natural resources and trading they sacrificed, in many cases the refinements of civilization for which they yearned. The irony of individuals people who suffered at the cruel hands of 'civilization', discovered paradise and yet longed to return to 'civilization' is illustrated in 'Mutiny on the Bounty'. A sailor marooned on a perfect Pacific island dies in his attempt to return to 'civilization' despite the cruel fate that would await him there.

In the twenty-first century there are many Russian girls who now have the freedom to rebel against the fate that history has determined for them. They may be lacking in financial assets but rich in cultural assets. The political system that might have robbed them of cash did at least give them excellent education and they absorbed cultural values from staunch family structures.

Ever since Shakespeare's play about 'star-crossed lovers' was written there has been in English culture a strong sense that romance should happen by chance even if the consequences may be disastrous. Online dating sites have had to make headway against this deeply rooted attitude even though arranged marriage has actually been practiced for centuries in the higher echelons of society.

There is often an initial resistance to approaching a website in search of an end to loneliness. For people who have were born into a world where online social networking was not even a remote idea it may seem an unfamiliar tactic. However, the urge to find a mate is instinctive and therefore invites curiosity and exploration.

Like their counterparts throughout the world Russian women have intuition that exceeds that of most men. The first practical assessment of a man's financial worth is not the end but the beginning of an assessment process. Most men will be unaware that it is going on and will arrive at the point of acceptance or rejection oblivious of the thoughts that have been going on inside the heads of their friends. Only when a girl is satisfied that a man fits into a sort of template that she carries in her head will she make a decision, sometimes without herself fully understanding why.
