subject: Diet Tips For Effective Weight Loss [print this page]

While most people will tell you to just eat healthier and stay away from fatty food this is only part of what it takes to lose weight. This is good advice but there is to it than that. I will give you some tips to get started.

It can be frustrating not to see results after a considerable period. However, it would be imprudent to change diet plans too often, especially since not all bodies react to all diets the same way. Give a program at least 6-8 weeks to yield results before you shift to another one just to give your body a fair chance to adjust and react properly.

Asian culture chose to eat on colored plates long ago out of respect for the Earth and nature (who provide our food), but researchers have recently found a link between the darker colored kitchenware and less production of a hormone that makes us eat more than we should.

Get regular exercise. This is very much required to lose weight and also improves overall health. Besides weight loss, regular and simple workouts help to build up strength and stamina, enhance body flexibility, develop a good state of mind and reduce tensions and stress.

Try using cinnamon instead of sugar. Fruits can get a little boring after a while. Before you give in and go after a more sugary dessert, give cinnamon a try. Put a little cinnamon on your fruit before eating it. It changes things up a bit and is a delicious alternative to sugar.

Make sure you control your hunger with meals that satisfy to avoid overeating. Overeating can sabotage an entire diet that day. You generally know you have reached this point because you start to feel uncomfortable and have a "stuffed" feeling in your stomach. When your body is telling you to stop, you need to stop eating.

Eat whole wheats instead of refined foods. If you must have white bread eat whole grain white bread. I believe Sara Lee makes whole grain white bread and it is delicious. Your family will probably not even notice the difference. The same goes for pasta. I know wheat pasta is not ideal for a lot of people but try the Barilla pasta. The Barilla pasta is a wheat pasta that does not have the traditional wheat pasta texture.
