Quality is king. Take pride in your work and spend lots of time working on your product or service so that you can feel confident standing behind. You are putting your name and reputation on the line each time you make a sale.

Try to put some creativity into your marketing plan. Home based businesses don't often have a lot of start up capital for beginning advertising. Use social media outlets to start spreading the word. Ask friends and family to do a little bit of word of mouth advertising. Make a simple do-it-yourself website that tells who you are and what you offer. Make business cards and give one to everyone you meet.

Along the way, ask for feedback from customers. This will allow you to keep in touch with what the market is searching for and how you rank in terms of providing this to them. Don't take their criticism personally, you asked for it.
