Viva Las Vegas Wedding Chapel Celebrates Record Number Of Weddings On 11-11-11

A record number of couples got married at the Viva Las Vegas Chapel earlier this month to celebrate the unique date of 11/11/11.

The chapel set a new record with 210 couples exchanging their vows during commitment ceremonies, vow renewals and destination weddings.

Joining the happy couples throughout the day were 3,000 invited guests who travelled to Las Vegas to join in the celebrations on what many couples believe to be, a very lucky wedding day.

Thousands of lovebirds all over the world booked 11/11/11 for their romantic ceremonies. The memorable date only occurs every 100 years and it is a perfect (same-numbered) palindrome, which reads the same backwards as it does forwards.

Las Vegas has always been a popular destination for weddings abroad and on 11/11/11 fifty couples from the United Kingdom headed to the Viva Las Vegas Chapel to say I Do, along with other couples from the USA, Australia and several other foreign countries.

Ceremonies were conducted by themed characters including Elvis, James Bond, Merlin the Magician, Dr Spock from Star Trek, the Blues Brothers, the Phantom of the Opera, and Michael Jackson.

Viva Las Vegas Wedding Chapel is a popular choice for couples getting married abroad because it offers traditional and fun themed weddings, same-sex commitment ceremonies and vow renewals. The chapel also offers little extras for newlyweds including personalised music and vows, a champagne toast, and the couples' names in lights outside the building.

Ron Decar, the founder of the Chapel, said: "It was an honour to be a part of so many couples' special day, creating one-of-a-kind memories on this symbolic date in history. Although, we have never before experienced this number of back-to-back ceremonies, every couple was delighted with their own personal experience.

"Each ceremony received the care and personal attention we pride ourselves in offering here at Viva Las Vegas Weddings, and we were pleased along with our guests, with these tremendous celebrations.

According to recent research carried out by Mintel, one in four British couples chooses destination weddings in the United States over traditional ceremonies at home. The average wedding abroad costs 4,000, which is about a quarter of the cost of a UK wedding that averages between 16,000 and 20,000.
