Toys Essential For Kids To Develop

Toys are an essential part of growing up. We all have our favourite toys that we remember from childhood, the ones that stood the test of time - the ones we returned to time and time again. These childhood toys have a Peter Pan quality in that they somehow remain relevant even as time goes by. Toys such as the Melissa & Doug range are the modern equivalent of those toys, as they provide the modern world with classical toys, built to last.

For instance take the good old building blocks; a very simple toy that entertains for hours. Whether we are building castles around ourselves, trying to see how high we can pile the blocks or if they are numbered or with the alphabet, putting them in sequence, building blocks stand the test of time.

Painting is and always will be a firm favourite. It brings out the budding artist in us and at times does allow those with genuine talent to shine. However, talent or not, painting is the ideal outlet for creativity, which is why painting will never go out of fashion. Nowadays, kids are lucky as they can have their very own easel for easy set up and painting. No more worrying about messing up the table with paints!

Wooden beads that can be strung together are another classic. They come in many varieties and children can enjoy stringing them together, according to shape, colour, and size or according to numbering or lettering.

Though the age of television, Internet and video games have taken over, younger kids do still enjoy the thrill of creating their own puppet shows. It is all about children finding outlets for their creativities and as young ones are more self-secure they have the inbuilt confidence to create and show it to the world. To aid this display and to help build confidence further, finger or hand puppets are ideal as they allow children to create story lines and play act it into reality.

In our world today we have become very caught up in achieving and tend to forget that play is essential for kids. Play for kids is the means to build confidence, brings to light hidden talents, just be themselves without the inhibitions of the adult world. Toys should not be looked upon as an unnecessary indulgence, but instead as essential for the personality growth of the child. Of course parents have to be aware to give the correct type of toy, one that has the correct blend of value and fun.
