How To Have A More Cultural Experience During Beach Cuba Holidays

If youre going on the typical beach Cuba holiday in resorts like Varadero, Guardalavaca or Cayo Santa Maria, you might worry that by staying in a tourist resort you might miss out on the real Cuban vibe and not get to experience the local hotel. And youre right to worry about that as if you stay in your hotel or resort the entire time you're in Cuba you're not going to have the best experience possible! While you can certainly enjoy delicious food, a great assortment of facilities and acvities as well as some pampering spa luxuries inside the hotel, there are a lot of things to explore outside and missing them would almost be sinful. Adding a little culture to your Cuba holidays could prove very rewarding indeed and open your eyes to a brand new world full of curiosities and peculiar contradictions. Cuba is pulsating with rhythm, a pumping atmosphere, lively locals and intoxicating salsa dancing.

If youre staying in Varadero and can bear to tear yourself away from the beach for a day or two, a great way to experience a little about Cubas culture is to go on a full day excursion to Havana. Many hotels resorts and Varadero offer a variety of 1 and 2-days excursions to a variety of destinations in Cuba, including the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Trinidad and its colonial treasures and the historic Havana. These tours offer a great way to add some culture to the beach experience without having to spend too long outside your beach resort.

Similarly, other popular Cuba resorts in mainland Cuba, like Cayo Santa Maria, offer you the opportunity to absorb the surrounding culture. Cayo Santa Maria, for example is connected to the city of Santa Clara, oozing culture and character. You can go on a day trip to explore the city, mix with the locals and visit the famous Che Guevara mausoleum and absorb some of the areas historical and cultural attributes.

If youre staying in Cubas eastern beach resort of Guardalavaca, it might be a little far-fetched to plan a day trip to a cultural city like Havana Havana and while it might be done it would have to be on a plane (a 50-minute plane ride approximately) because a coach there would take over 10 hours! But, youll be happy to learn that theres plenty to discover right next to your resort, in the adjacent city of Holguin, a quiet and laidback town where people are all smiles and where you can absorb the slow-pace of life and the charismatic vibe of the Cubans that live in this rural area.
