Learn The Different Symptoms Of Lung Cancer In Women

The symptoms of lung cancer in both men and women are often ignored during its initial phase due to the fact that the symptoms are somewhat similar to other conditions like a common throat infection. By the time the true condition is diagnosed, the chance of survival is already low. Take note that the symptoms for initial stages of lung cancer is not prevalent and only 25% of all cases are diagnosed earlier through x-ray test. For other diagnostic testing or for the statistics of the condition, you may visit www.lung-cancer-statistics.com. For women, the most common symptoms of lung cancer include the following:

* Chronic Coughing: this is considered as one of the earliest symptom of lung cancer in women. The cough can be persistent in nature and usually occur anytime of the day or at night and may worsen as the cancer stage advances. There are times when the phlegm is tinged with blood and in later stages, this may become chronic.

* Difficulty in Breathing: this is another common symptom of lung cancer. Difficulty breathing or shortness of breath is usually experienced due to the blockage within the air passages or fluid buildup within the lungs. Breathlessness can also be accompanied with a wheezing sound.

* Respiratory Infections: in earlier stages of lung cancer in women, they become more susceptible to various respiratory infections like bronchitis and pneumonia and these are considered as the early signs of lung cancer. Since the immunity of the lungs is hampered due to the cancer cells, the lungs lose its capability to go against bacterial and viral infections.

* Chest Pain: as the cancer cells spread throughout the lungs, it becomes inflamed and the tumor grows larger, thus resulting to pain, a heavy feeling on the chest and discomfort. Difficulty breathing and excessive coughing can also result to this symptom. In case you are experiencing unusual chest pain, make sure to consult the physician immediately. The pain may also radiation to the arms and shoulders, although not all lung cancer patients may encounter this symptom.

* Weight Loss and Weakness: a woman suffering from lung cancer often loses their appetite, thus resulting to abrupt weight loss. The condition can also cause excessive weakness and fatigue and this may result to severe pain in the muscles and bones.

* Changes in Voice: women afflicted with such condition may also experience some changes in their voice. Hoarseness may occur due to the damages caused by the cancer cells on the voice box. As the tumor continuously grows, this puts pressure to the air passages and vocal cord, thus affecting the voice.

* Other Symptoms: other symptoms of lung cancer in women include neurological instability, hormonal imbalance, loss of vision, memory loss, neck and facial swelling and difficulty swallowing foods. Depression and mood changes are also prevalent.

If you suspect that you are afflicted with this condition, make sure to seek immediate medical help. Just like scoliosis in adults treatment, the treatment procedures for lung cancer are also dependent on the stage and type of cancer condition. Also, proper diagnosis is necessary to determine the most appropriate treatment procedure for this condition.
