Sell Appliances Online

Appliances have great money-making potential on Craigslist. A real key to contemplate when choosing a niche to work in is, does it fill a need, is it something people will always need. Appliances are an exceptional niche because of this very reason. But how exactly do you make money with appliances on Craigslist? Well, here are a few ideas:

Clean up and resell

Repair and resell

Scrap

Clean Up and Resell

Like many things in life a little elbow grease goes a long way. Many appliances, especially refrigerators and freezers, get thrown away when someone purchases a new one. Their older appliances may smell weird, have some stains, dust, or other debris. Don't let any of this stop you from acquiring the item. A bit of effort goes a long way financially.

Repair and Resell

My personal favorite aspect of Craigslist deals is the handyman game. Repairing and reselling items is a very profitable business avenue. Often times, what is wrong with the appliance is a relatively easy fix, and with the advent of Google and Youtube it is almost a sure thing that someone has posted a guide online explaining how to repair the appliance. More over broken items especially large items, people will give away if you take it away. Get a truck/van or borrow a friend's and pick the item up! If they're giving it away for free what are you out? You've only lost time, and that time is well worth the risk considering you could profit over $100 if you repair it.

Scrap

Yet if the repair is too much money, effort, or time you can always scrap the appliance. An appliance like a refrigerator is composed of aluminum, some copper, and other various materials. Scrapping a refrigerator can net you anywhere from $25 to $50 depending on the amount of aluminum and copper inside. Make sure if you are going to scrap any appliances that you research proper protocol online, for example, a refrigerators coolant, Freon, is typically not accepted at scrapyards and will need to be drained before scrapping.

Where to Find Cheap/Free Appliances

Finding appliances to resell, repair, or scrap does not have to be a difficult task. One of the best places to find them is, not surprisingly, on Craigslist. Search the Appliances section for any broken, or unwanted refrigerators, dryers, etc or better yet create an ad offering to buy and haul broken appliances. You'll be amazed at how cheap you can get stuff when you'll pick it up and haul it away! Other places to find appliances are in your local newspaper, and on the curb the night before "heavy pick up day"

If you pause and look around there are many ways to buy and sell appliances online!
