subject: Bournemouth To Host First Ever Beach Wedding This Week [print this page]

The seaside resort of Bournemouth will be hosting its first ever wedding on the beach as the winning couple from ITVs Daybreak Here Comes the Tide competition get ready to tie the knot this week.

Last year, the council gave the town permission to conduct beach destination weddings and the first event will take place on 27th April, 2012 as part of Daybreaks competition.

The winning couple was chosen by Daybreak viewers last week and the wedding will be filmed and broadcast live on ITV on Friday morning.

The prize includes a beach hut wedding, a bridal gown, bouquet, hand-crafted wedding cake, champagne and canaps in a decorated marquee on the beach, the wedding reception at the Highcliff Marriott Hotel, and overnight accommodation for up to 30 beach wedding guests.

A Daybreak spokesperson commented: Its always exciting filming a live event, and few things can beat getting married live on TV and this setting is superb.

This will be the first legal civil ceremony to take place on Bournemouths award-winning beaches and hundreds of couples are planning beach weddings in the UK resort this summer.

It might not have the tropical temperatures of the Caribbean or Hawaii but Bournemouth could soon become a top UK spot for destination weddings with its array of beautiful golden sandy beaches.

The initiative is expected to encourage UK brides and grooms to get married on home soil, as well as entice couples from all over the world to book beach weddings in Bournemouth.

The number of engaged couples planning weddings abroad is on the rise and there are plenty of settings to choose from all over the world for romantic ceremonies. New legislation allows for cruise weddings, underwater ceremonies, vows on the beach, and weddings in the sky and loved-up couples getting married abroad are seeking unique ways to say I Do.

Those who are looking for relaxation, breathtaking landscapes and luxury can head to the Caribbean, Hawaii, or Indian Ocean island nations such as the Maldives or the Seychelles for tropical weddings where hotels and resorts offer a wide range of special wedding packages.

Island weddings in a beach setting are a popular choice and destinations such as Cyprus, Greece, Hawaii, Fiji and the Caribbean attract thousands of brides and grooms every year.
