Helping Your Baby Sleep Well

Having a newborn is one of the most amazing experiences in the world; however it can also be stressful. For newborns there is no concept of night and day. They are guided by their needs, such as hunger, wetness and the need to be held. For new parents it is a time of uncertainty as they slowly get used to their baby's requirements. During the first few days one of the most daunting tasks is putting the newborn to sleep in the cot. How many of us have made constant trips to the cot just to make sure that precious bundle is sleeping in peace? There is the fear that the baby would have turned and thereby choke. Placing your baby in a baby sleeping bag eliminates movement and allows the baby to sleep in peace and comfort. This in turns allow the parents to get some much needed shut eye while the baby sleeps.

As newborns adjust to being in the world from the safe haven of their mother's womb, it is a time of sleepless nights for the parents. Babies react to how they feel and during the first few months it is mostly hunger. Especially breast fed babies have a tendency to fall asleep while sucking due to the tummy getting full quickly. As a result they get hungry quickly. This is just till they adjust and get used to a routine. It is easy to get babies used to a routine, as they do crave familiarity. Never stress out about how other babies are behaving. Each child is unique and will have different ways of adapting to the new surroundings. It is up to the parents to help the baby adapt to being in the outside world. Trying to maintain pre-baby routines just leads to stress. Try and get as much sleep as possible while the baby sleeps. Trying to do all the work while your baby sleeps and then tending to the baby once awake, just leads to frustration for the parents. Remember babies react to emotions and can feel stress and react accordingly.

Helping your baby have a comfortable deep sleep will help him or her adjust to a routine quickly and be less fretful. A baby sleeping bag to a great degree mimics the feeling of warmth and safety of a mother's womb.
