Plan Ahead - How To Make The Most Of Your Travels

As we are all well aware the globe is shrinking, as worldwide travel becomes the norm for families to spend their hard earned two weeks in the sun, in faraway places. This can be attributed to aggressive advertising and the internet. If you see a place you like you can simply Google it and see for yourself what it has to offer you, and your family. Google earth will even let you see a street map of the specific hotel you have been offered.

This is a great tool when planning your travels, but you need to spend some time researching what you may need during your travels, to make the most of your holiday and ensure you enjoy it to the full.

Clothes: It is vital you pack the correct clothes for your travels. These need to be appropriate for the season and time of year. Check out what the temperatures should be during your travels, in each country and pack accordingly. Make sure you are packed for every eventuality as you may be travelling during an unpredictable or wet season, we are all well aware of the unpredictability of the weather.

Medication: If you need medication during your travels then ensure you have sufficient prescription drugs for the duration of the planned holiday. If they are prescription drugs make sure you carry a letter from your GP stating what the drugs are for and have them in a sealed plastic bag in your hand luggage, along with the letter and you should be fine during your travels.

Documents: As we know the globe is shrinking, but this does not remove the fact that we need some documents during our travels. It may be in the form of a visa we need to apply for prior to our departure, or it may be a simple paper to be completed during your flight. Whatever it is and whatever form it takes, it is your responsibility to ensure you have the relative and current documents you need during your travels. Don"t forget your passport!

Currency: We all need money during our travels. Plan ahead and make the most of your holidays. I have my money in envelopes, so I have an envelope for the taxi to the airport, then one for the airport lounge and so on, all the way to booking in to the hotel. During your travels you may visit more than one country and need more than one currency, so purchase a small amount for each country, so you are not stuck without the correct currency. Some exchange rates in airports and small exchange outlets do not really offer a good rate. Depending on where you are going, there is normally a good currency to have in your possession. The USD is always accepted as is the GBP, but once again it is best to check out what is generally accepted during your travels.

No matter where your travels take you, it is important to plan ahead and keep safe. The internet is your friend so use it to its full potential.
