Identify The Dog Guard That Is Most Suitable For You

Transporting animals in a vehicle can often be a problem. Whilst cats are quite easy to encourage into a travelling basket, which takes up little space in your vehicle, trying to persuade a Rottweiler to get into the back of your hatchback car and then stay there whilst you drive can be quite a different thing. Theres nothing quite like the feeling of hot breath on your neck, or that wet tongue in your ear to keep you awake whilst driving, although it can be distracting and hence very dangerous.

Fitting a dog guard or load compartment divider as they are also known is a fairly easy solution to housing your dog whilst travelling in your car. Most manufacturers offer some form of dog guard for most of their vehicles that is capable of dividing the front and rear sections of the car. Usually these are available in two options; a half-height dog guard fits between the top of the back seats and the roof, when the back seats are in an upright position. These are quick and easy to fit and these dog guards will usually clip into place, or use a friction fit to keep them in place. The units are easy to remove when not required in case you dont need them all of the time.

The second alternative is a full height dog guard. Usually supplied as an extension piece to the half-height guard, the full height guard is designed to be used when the back seats are down. This helps to create a useful barrier between the front and rear of the vehicle. Usually a little more difficult to fit, the full height guard will take a little longer to remove when not required. In addition to the full height guard a load space divider may also be able to be used. The load space divider is designed to separate the boot space from front to rear when the full height guard is used. The divider creates two compartments in the rear of the vehicle; one for the dog and one for other items such as luggage, or food, that needs to be kept separate from the dog.

Whilst dog guards can be a little difficult to fit and may have to be fitted and removed on a regular basis, the fitting of a dog guard to your vehicle is a very good way to keep both your dog and yourself safe and secure during your journey. It also means an end to the unexpected wet ear.
