subject: Planning A Family Vacation Day At The Park [print this page]

If your family vacation budget is a bit restricted this year, don't worry. Just because you cannot afford an expensive family vacation doesn't mean you can't still have fun as a family. Sometimes, very simple vacations can in fact be even more enjoyable than pricey ones. Think back on the fun times you have had in the past, and you may be surprised by how many of those times were simple things that actually cost little if any money. After all, the destination is not the most important part of a family vacation - the truly important component is simply spending precious time together as a family. If you're looking for something reasonably priced to do as a family vacation, or you just want to have fun during a free afternoon, then organizing a vacation day at the park could be exactly the thing for you!

Choosing Your Destination

If your community is like most, then there is probably a park located somewhere nearby. There might even be multiple parks near enough to you that it will take very little time to get to them. When you look into the subject, you may even find out that there are different attractions that each park has. For example, one park could have a baseball field, while another has a great picnic spot. Many parks also have nature trails and walking paths which you can enjoy. Your target should be the park that has the most features that everybody in your family will have fun with. Although you ought to keep in mind that trying something new is often the most fun. Once you've chosen your destination, it is time to plan your day.

Planning a Park Vacation Day

Even while spontaneous outings to the park can be loads of fun, you can at times have an even better time if you just take some time planning first. Think about all of the sports or games you might want to play at the park, and then do any preparation is you need to as far as gathering supplies goes. One example of an affordable way to have fun is to bring your kites to the park if it's a windy day. Or, plan a picnic lunch, allowing everyone to contribute an item to the menu. Be sure to bring along your camera so that you can take some photos which you can display in picture frames or a scrapbook when you return home. You might also want to load up sports supplies such as a baseball, bat and glove, or some tennis rackets if you are sure the park has a court you can play on. There are even many parks that welcome pets, assuming that you clean up after your pet and they are held on a leash.

How to Preserve the Memories of Your Day of Vacation

Just because the vacation day included the neighborhood park rather than an exotic destination doesn't mean you will not still want to take lots of photos. Take photos of your family enjoying time together, as well as photos depicting the overall beauty of nature. It may even be a good idea for you to increase the size of some of your pictures and print them out to produce art for your walls which will be both unique and affordable.

So you see, vacations don't have to be long or costly. All that is required is a bit of planning, a destination, and the desire to have fun!
