Osprey Porter 46 Travel Pack

The Osprey Porter 46 is a forty-six liter travel pack that is best used for adventure travel. It comes with dimensions of 22" height, 14" width and 9" depth. Its low profile design features a stow-away suspension. It is ideal for carrying a wide variety of stuff for a weekend trip or for transporting bulky gear in a compact unit.

The Osprey Porter 46 has well-organized compartments to store a variety of goods. The compartments can also be used to carry over-sized gear. A number of stash pockets allow easy access to the things carried in the pack. The sidewalls use stiffened foam and the external compression wings help to keep the load secure. The hip wings and the shoulder harness can be stowed away in a zippered compartment when they are not needed. This makes it convenient to place the pack inside the overhead compartments of buses or airplanes without much effort.

Handles are provided at the top and at the sides of the pack, so that it can be carried in any orientation. The handles are padded and offer comfort even while carrying heavier loads. The Porter 46 can also be carried like a duffel bag by attaching a separately sold shoulder strap to the attachment rings provided. The pack is extremely durable as it is built with ballistic nylon fabrics that are resistant to moisture, tear and abrasion.

The Osprey Porter 46 comes with daisy chain webbing on its front panel to carry a host of accessories. It is easy to pack and has a good capacity. Its strong zippers and superior fabric make it last a whole lot longer. It weights just over 3 pounds which makes it one of the lightest packs in its category. It comes in three colors - Crimson, Charcoal and Earth.

The two length-wise, webbed loop handles are ideal for hauling the pack up and down between different levels. Since the sides and backs are compressed, there is no need for internal straps.

The top pocket which is well-concealed can store a number of items for quick access. The pack has two main compartments, but lacks a separate laptop compartment, which people may not need during a trekking trip in most cases. The Osprey Porter 46 does not come in gender-specific varieties and is a unisex model. Although it does not have wheels, it can still be carried quite easily, thanks to its multiple carry options.

The layout of this pack is so specific, it's really worth the asking price (more than I wished to shell out, but satisfied I did!). This carrier will last, but look over each band, snap, closures, and read the short handbook supplied inside by Osprey. Every detail has a function so you can put it to use to its full potential. There is a natural curvature to the cushioned side panels so that when all is loaded and compacted, nothing is sticking out and prevents snagging or stowage. There is a front pocket that is accessible particularly from below your seat above the handle. It's a larger pocket than what is given credit for (e.g. small book, camera, I pod).
