subject: Struggling In This Tough Economy Without A College Degree? Government Grants For Moms Available [print this page]

It's true, Uncle Sam has more funding available in the form of grants and scholarships to help low to middle income families better afford a post-secondary education. Pell Grants are not the only option, although they are the most common and easily attainable. Pell Grant Awards have been increased for the upcoming year, and are given to every eligible student. Campus-based aid has also been increased.

Any parent may apply and aid is awarded based upon need. Even if you do not qualify for the highest award amount, student loans are now available at low interest rates and affordable repayment schedules based on income and household size, or may be forgiven altogether if certain criteria are met, such as working in a impoverished area.

Most colleges and universities use the Free Application for Student Financial Aid application found at fasfa.ed.gov. (Check with the financial aid office at your school of choice regarding their application process.) Applying is 100% free. (Do not get scammed by those sites that charge you a fee to submit your application for financial aid. Why pay for something you can easily do for yourself?). The application takes less than an hour. You will be required to submit documentation to your school, such as your latest tax return.

If you are a mother struggling to pay the bills, if you feel stuck working at an unfulfilling, low-paying job because you lack a college degree. If you have dreams of a career, but lack the funds to seek a degree, now is the time to take advantage of Uncle Sam.
