Most men wear motorbike jackets but almost half of them do not know how to exactly treat their jackets to increase their longevity. It is obvious that since you wear this piece of clothing while riding your bike, it would eventually become dirty and dusty. You should not ignore that... try taking care of it before you worn it out in just a few months. Taking proper care of your jacket can help you increase its life and you can enjoy wearing it for years to come.

When you truly love someone, you automatically care for them. Same goes for a leather jacket - it is such a beautiful piece of clothing that it becomes your favorite outfit and you can not even imagine losing it. With love comes care and therefore loves demands time and attention. In order to have your jacket with you for as long as it can be, you need to properly maintain it. Leather jackets must be considered assets and should be taken care of. If you avoid taking care of them, they would get cracks, wrinkles, bad odor, dryness, stains, and damages. Following are some of the effective caring tips that you need to know for properly maintaining your jackets:

Water shall be treated as your jacket's most dangerous enemy. Thus, keep your favorite wardrobe item away from it. Exposure to water could damage it. You can apply waterproof solution over your jacket so that water does not damage the leather even if it is exposed to it. However, do not apply too much of it otherwise it will prevent air circulation from taking place.

If it gets wet, leave it to dry naturally. Air drying is the best way to dry them; never use any artificial source of air for drying out.

Get wide padded hangers for hanging them, this will help them retain their shape.

Never fold them; it could cause cracks and creases.

If you want to pack them, do it using cotton cloth, not plastic bags. This material breathes so the air needs to pass through the material you use to pack it with.

Your caring process starts the moment you bring it home. Apply a conditioner to prevent damage to your new jacket.

Make sure you keep them under room temperature - extreme heat or cold could damage it.

Never spray perfume on it - maybe for sometime you like the smell, but it will soon turn into bad odor and would be very hard to get rid of.

Regularly apply moisture to your jacket. Dryness can cause cracks and damages.

Get hold of the best stain remover to remove stains from it. Don't be lazy; remove them the moment you spot them out.

To wash these jackets, do not use the same method that you follow to wash other garments. Do not expose it directly to water. Make foam of a mild soap in a bucket and dip sponge or clean cloth in the mixture. Clean your jacket with the lukewarm water by rubbing it softly with the help of a sponge.

Make sure you don't press them or put them under heavy things. This will distort their shape.
