Drug Treatment At No Cost

Substance abuse has spread like wildfire in the United States. It affects people of any gender, ace, or age. National Criminal Justice Reference Service has reported in their national drug abuse profile that incidents of using drugs have lowered. However, there are more than 1/3 of the population aging twelve years and older are still suffering from substance abuse problems.

Agencies

There are drug treatment centers organized by the government. They are organized by either the local, state or the federal authorities for the purpose of giving cost-effective treatment plans for the abusers. The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) is an example of a drug-abuse agency backed by a federal agency. The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services gives millions of dollars each year to SAMHSA for the funding of drug abuse programs.

Organizations

There are non-government organizations that help federal agencies in solving the drug addiction. They rely merely on charitable contributions and government grants and sometimes experience limited funds. They promote wellness by focusing on a particular substance abuse problem which is rampant on a specific area.

Services

State or federal agencies provide financial aid for the rehabilitation and hospital stay of the patients and also substance abuse meetings and medical evaluation. For the local agencies with limited funds, services are basically confined to providing health teachings about drug abuse and addiction through brochures and lectures. They invite speakers to do the symposium in public schools, medical colleges and pharmaceutical companies. Chat forums are common for agencies that are based on the internet.

Cost

Most of the drug prevention and rehabilitation offered by government and non-profit organizations are free. However, these facilities need financial support for the payment of the workers and for the purchase of important supplies and services.

Internet

Online drug sales are rampant in this modern age so some agencies are done on-line to combat this problem. Operation Gray Lord is created by the Food and Drug Administration and the Drug Enforcement Administration in 2003 to fight the online sales of drugs.

Integration

Agencies are now integrating to fight drug addiction. The U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration Drug addiction has reduced its programs for drug addiction when agencies help with each other. While the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement Agency and the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration have worked together to minimize the drug-trafficking in the country.

Government drug treatment programs are developed to give a low-cost haven of recovery and to promote healing for the abusers.
