Cheap Holidays Newquay - Can Be Fraught With Adventure Yet Possess Completely Comfortable Lodging

Newquay is a scenic fishing village on the Cornwall UK coast. It is a popular tourist venue and has been so for at least 100 years. For people seeking excellent surfing, a glimpse of archaeology, an outstanding zoo and active nightlife there is excellent accommodation for those on a budget.

Fishing and Surfing Are Popular Newquay Activities

Newquay is well loved for its spectacular coastline and warmer waters and is a favorite spot for surfing. The town is filled with many surf shops some featuring custom made boards. Some merchants rent out gear for hire. Fistral Beach is considered perhaps the finest of all Cornwall beach breaks. Powerful hollow waves form here and can hold a sizeable swell. For the last twenty years surfing competitions have been held right on this beach. This has been the home of The Rip Curl Boardmasters Tounament. The Cribbar reef is located in Newquay and has only rarely been surfed. Even in absence of wind, waves break at up to 6 m.

Newquay Zoo is Cornwall's only zoo and is 13 acres in area. It is home to 300 animals belonging to 130 species. In 2009 an annex was added as an African Savanna area. Following that a Philippines area was created to house the endangered Visayan Warty Pig, Fishing Cat and Philippine spotted deer. Newquay Zoo participates in valuable conservation and breeding programs.

Prehistoric Archeology

Burial mounds from prehistoric times are located along an embankment called The Barrowfields only 400 m from Trevelgue. At one time there were 15 barrows on this site but now only several remain. Archeological excavations at this site have uncovered cooking pots and a burial urn containing a chieftain's remains, which have been estimated to be 3,500 years old.

Nightlife

Newquay has lively nightlife. You can find chillout bars, traditional pubs, beachside cafes, nightclubs and even organised bar crawls. Many watering holes offer live music and well known performers. Recently Stag and Hen parties have become somewhat popular and teenagers stop by in celebration of exam completion.

Lodging

Newquay budget accomodation is easy to find. If you're looking for a comfortable, well furnished, yet moderately priced place to stay, you might try Morlodge. They have comfy rooms with bunk beds and bathrooms, which accommodate 2 to 8 people. Prices start at 25 pounds for a single. You might also check out their gear rental, if you'd like to try something new. If Morlodge is not what you had in mind, consider Headland Hotel where rooms can cost up to 820 pounds for one Night!

Newquay Is a Singular Place

It is unlikely that this combination of fabulous coastline, splendid surfing, prehistoric archeology, zoological gardens, entertaining nightlife and pleasant yet inexpensive lodging can be found in any other place outside of Newquay.
