Travel Spain: Culinary Magic On The Costa Del Sol

Believe it or not the South of Spain or Andaluca is home to the most nutritionally healthy foods on the planet. Andalucan cooking is inspired by a blend of cultures, such as oriental and Middle Eastern tastes. Because Andaluca was under Moorish rule for almost 800 years, it left behind a distinct culinary heritage thats famous the world over.

In the South of Spain you will find creative uses for specific spices and herbs, oranges and other tropical fruits included in main dishes, almonds and cinnamon served with meat and extra Virgin Olive Oil as the foundation for flavor everywhere.

Andaluca is one of the largest producers of Olive Oil in the world. Walk into any bar along the Costa del Sol and your drinks will be accompanied with a bowl of Olives - not exactly the peanuts or pretzels you might have expected! But whats truly unique is not all olives have the same flavor, it seems here everyone loves to blend new herbs and spices to make them their own.

Some more interesting cuisine found in the south of Spain is a breakfast item called Pan con tomate y aceite toasted bread topped with chopped tomatoes and drizzled with olive oil. A very interesting addition to your morning coffee indeed!

How about some authentic Gazpacho? If youre a fan, you can thank Andaluca for its creation. Translated Gazpacho means soaked bread back in the day it was actually considered peasant food and consisted of break, olive oil and crushed garlic. As the dish travelled across the globe it picked up many different variations; however it still remains in its original form in the South of Spain.

If culinary is your main attraction, you might want to consider the many tapas and wine tasting tours held throughout the south. For example:

They even have vegetarian Paellas so everyone can enjoy the unique blend of flavors found in the rice. You can order seafood Paella, which is most, recommended, or even a hearty helping of meat Paella.
